Journey to the Great Pyramids of Egypt and Valley of the Kings. View the unique flora, fauna and wildlife of Madagascar. Step back in time to the historical deserts and forts of the Persian Gulf. Seek out the "Big 5", lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo and leopard in South Africa (Cape Town). Immerse yourself in the sights and smells of the spice markets in Morocco. Adventurous travellers can explore the length of the West African coast. Dubai is a growing hub for cruise liners between October and May, due to its strategic location.

Many extended cruises sail between the Mediterranean and India via the Red Sea and Persian Gulf (Costa, Azamara Quest, Celebrity Century). Dubai is a hub for shorter cruises of the Persian Gulf, and Sharm el-Sheikh for the Red Sea. To sail along the west coast of Africa look for larger ships sailing sectors of world cruises. Moroccan ports are part of many Canary Islands/Western Mediterranean cruises, especially by Costa and MSC. Experience Egypt from one of the luxurious river ships on the Nile River. Tunisia in North Africa is included in some Western Mediterranean cruises, though safety must be checked first.

Costa, NCL and MSC ships include Morocco and Tunisia in their Mediterranean cruises. P&O ships out of Southampton call at Morocco, as does Cunard’s Queen Victoria. For the Persian Gulf and cruises out of Dubai, take an MSC or Costa mid-size ship, or one of the luxury vessels of Seabourn, Azamara or Seven Seas Voyager. MSC Opera and MSC Sinfonia make annual trips along the west coast of Africa between the Mediterranean and Cape Town.
