Cruises from Kayak Island, Alaska

Kayak Island lies in the Gulf of Alaska, just off the Alaskan mainland, and 190 km due west of the Alaskan-Canadian border and the nearby Mt Saint Elias. Historically, the island was visited by the Danish explorer Vitus Bering in 1741, and Captain James Cook who chartered the coastline in 1778. The island was later named ‘Kayak’ due to its profile resembling an upturned Eskimo skin canoe. A ridge up to 450 metres runs the length of this narrow uninhabited island.
