Lambom Island is a small island located one kilometre off the SW coast of New Ireland, the largest island of the New Ireland Province in Papua New Guinea. It has a rich history of visits by Europeans, from sailors to deserters and runaway convicts. Historically, it had a share in the infamous blackbirding, when visiting traders supplied black labourers to Queensland, Fiji and Samoa.
