Schoonhoven is a city and municipality in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. It is now the smallest municipality in the Netherlands. The city is renowned for its silver, hence it is nicknamed ‘Silver City’. Silver-smiths have been known to work here since the 17th century. Today there are a lot of silver trade possibilities and Schoonhoven is home of the Dutch Silver Museum and the International Silver School. Schoonhoven Watertower, 50m high, was built in 1901.
