Porto Torres is a commune and city in northern Sardinia, in the Province of Sassari. Sardinia is a large island in the central Western Mediterranean Sea. Porto Torres is situated on the north coast on the spacious bay of the Gulf of Asinara. Historically, the town was of considerable note, originating in Roman times, founded possibly by Julius Caesar.
