Cruises from Tanjung Wangi
Tanjung Wangi (“Fragrant Habour”) is the port for Banyuwangi (“Fragrant Water”), a city of 100,000 on the east coast of Java. The port lies a few kilometres from the city centre, and 6 km to the east, across Bali Strait, is the island of Bali. A ferry crosses the strait, departing from a port 7 km north of Tanjung Wangi. The city was the capital of a 16th C Hindu Kingdom, until overtaken by the Muslim kingdom of Mataram in the 17th C.
