Cruises from Pulau Komba
Komba Island is a small isolated volcanic island in the Flores Sea, 45 km north of the Lesser Sunda Island chain that includes the nearby larger islands of Flores and Timor. Komba is of irregular shape, of diameter roughly 2.5 km. The highest point on the island is Mount Batu Tara (633m), a stratovolcano that has ongoing regular eruptions since 2007. Its first historical eruption was noted in 1852, with explosions and lava flows. On approaching the island one sees the continuous ash plume slowly arising from the single crater.
