Dobo is the main port and capital of the Aru Islands, a group of about 95 low-lying islands in the Maluku province of eastern Indonesia. It is situated on Wamar Island, just off the largest island Tanahbesar and about 700 kms north of Darwin. Located west from Dobo is Batu Kora beach, a white sandy beach overgrown with coconut trees, a recreation spot for the local people. Pearl farming is a major source of income for the island.

During World War 2, and aided by the local Japanese pearling fleet, Dobo was invaded and for a short period was a Japanese Japanese float-plane base until retaken by Allied forces and used as a major staging point.
