Punta Gorda (pop. 5000) is the southernmost town in Belize (formerly British Honduras, now a British Commonwealth country), in Central America. Belize is bordered by Mexico on the north, Guatemala, and the Caribbean Sea. It is a seaport and fishing centre. Punta Gorda is capital of the Toledo District that features some of the most pristine rainforests, extensive cave networks, coastal lowland plains, and offshore cays.
