Pärnu is located in SW Estonia on the coast of Pärnu Bay, an inlet of the Gulf of Riga in the Baltic Sea. Lying on the Pärnu River, it is a popular holiday resort with its two kilometre beach, water parks, spas and rehabilitation centres, hotels, conference and concert venues, golf courses and tennis courts, restaurants and pubs. By area it is the biggest town in Estonia. Since 1996 Pärnu has been known as Estonia's Summer Capital.
