Sassnitz is a popular Baltic resort town and fishing port on the Jasmund peninsula, Rügen Island, in Germany. Around 100km to the north across the Baltic Sea is Sweden, and capital Copenhagen. The city has many noble mansions – German Baltic “resort architecture”. Sassnitz countryside is known for its white chalk cliffs and wooded forests of the Jasmund National Park, a prime tourist destination. The Königsstuhl ("King's Chair") is the best known cliff at 118m.
