Dietfurt is a town in Bavaria, Germany, situated on the river Altmühl. Interestingly, while the traditional Carnival parades around Germany - leading up to Lent on Ash Wednesday - are known for strange costumes and wild parties, in Dietfurt the whole town turns Chinese! Since 1928 they dress up in Asian costumes and metaphorically ‘hand over’ the town to a ‘Chinese Emperor’.
