Cruises from Seno Eyre Fjord
The Seno Eyre Fjord in southern Chile is home for the Bruggen Glacier, also known as Pio XI Glacier, the largest western outflow from the Southern Patagonian Ice Field. Now about 64 km in length, it is one of the longest glaciers in the southern hemisphere outside of Antarctica. Unlike most glaciers worldwide, it advanced significantly since 1945, surging 5 km across the fjord and reaching the western shore in 1962 and cutting off Lake Greve from the sea.
