Imbituba is a port and coastal town in the southern Brazilian state of Santa Catarina. From 1796 to the middle of the twentieth century it was an important home of Brazilian whalers, but today the rebuilt whaling station is an historic site and museum that is a ‘must-see’. Thanks to a special project of protecting the local Southern Right Whales, this region has become a federal Environmental Protection Area, making whale watching very popular.

Imituba is also home to a population of Portuguese, Italian, and German descent. The area is probably best known for its pristine, magical, and private beaches. These include the following: Praia do Rosa, Itapiruba beach with its amazing cliff, Vermelha beach, and Praia de Ibiraquera where many go kite surfing, to name but a few.
