Possession Islands, at 71.9 deg. South, lie within the Antarctic Circle.They are a group of small islands and rocks extending over an area of about 11 sq.km. lying in the western part of the Ross Sea, 8 km SE of Cape McCormick, Victoria Land, Antarctica. They were named by a captain of the British Royal Navy in 1841.
