 San Juan, the capital and most populous city of Puerto Rico, is the oldest city on US territory. It is the Caribbean commercial hub, but is best known for its beautifully restored historic district of Old San Juan that is situated on a rocky peninsula girded by thick walls jutting into the crashing Atlantic surf. With its 400 restored buildings from the 16th and 17th century Spanish colonial period this area is steeped in history. Add to this the expansive stretches of smooth clean beaches, boutiques, and pleasant restaurants, that make Condado the most popular neighbourhood for visitors and one understands why this port is the heart of the island’s tourism.
Take time to stroll along the narrow cobblestone streets and investigate the pastel-coloured buildings, restaurants, boutiques, museums and mansions. Explore El Morro, the dramatic fortress on a rocky promontory with its barracks, dungeons, turrets, towers and tunnels. The massive Castillo de San Cristobal with its series of fortifications, and the World Heritage Site, La Fortaleza comprising a forty room mansion that was completed in 1540 are well worth visiting. There are many statues and monuments to be appreciated including: the Citizen of the Americas, a statue of Christopher Columbus and one of the first native Puerto Rican who served as governor, to name but a few.  Saint Croix is the largest of the US Virgin Islands in the Caribbean. Spain, Great Britain, the Netherlands, France, the Knights of Malta, Denmark and the United States all played a role in its past and brought their influence to this small island. This has resulted in a fascinating culture that is best experienced through its arts, crafts, music, as well as the festivals and cultural events that are held throughout the year. Visitors can also absorb the beauty of its gorgeous beaches, the surprisingly diverse landscape, and take the time to explore the two main towns of Christiansted and Frederiksted to get a glimpse of the island’s incredible history.

 The island of Saint Martin (St Marten) was discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1493, and is located about 250 km north of Continental-Guadeloupe. Since February 2007, after a poll, it has become a French Territorial Collectivity. Previously divided between the Dutch and the French, the peaceful cohabitation of the two communities has resulted in this tiny island becoming an extremely popular holiday and duty-free shopping destination in the Caribbean.
Probably most famous for the variety of the delightful 37 palm-treed beaches that even include salt-water ponds, one can simply laze, or go snorkelling, scuba diving in the coral reefs, windsurfing and even parasailing. Motorboats and sail boats offer excursions, while those who enjoy game fishing are sure to enjoy the variety of fish found in the offshore waters. Visit the historical Museum of Saint Martin and then possibly take a climb to the historic Fort Louis, built in 1767. Traces of Saint Martin's history can also be found in the other villages of the island. The pastel-coloured houses and tulips in Phillipsburg tell their own story, while in Quartier d'Orléans, the original settlement of the French on the island, much of the old structures and atmosphere has been preserved. Renowned for its elegance and variety of cuisine there are many restaurants and bistros but Grand Case, with its small wooden ‘gingerbread style’ cottages, is considered the gourmet capital of the island. more/less... |

 St. John’s, the capital of the island nation of Antigua and Barbuda in the Caribbean, sits on the NW coast of the tropical island of Antigua that is home to innumerable magnificent beaches. This wonderland of shopping and restaurants is a great spot to soak up the sun throughout the year. St.John’s reflects its British heritage with such edifices as Fort Barrington that looms dramatically over the shoreline, and Fort James built in the 17th Century. Then there’s the national sport of cricket that highlights its predominantly British culture. However, above all, it feels more like a tropical paradise. Within walking distance of the pier are fascinating small streets with traditional shops, and restored colonial buildings which line the waterfront. All are dominated by the evocative white neo-baroque towers of the well known St John’s Cathedral. Antigua and Barbuda are aptly named the ‘Gateway to the Caribbean’.
To appreciate the early history of the islands, be sure to visit the Museum of Antigua and Barbuda, where thought-provoking replicas and models cleverly depict the history of the Caribbean. The Cedar Valley Golf Course, known for its sweeping views of the sea, offers a very enjoyable change for many. The colourful and different statue of the respected elder statesman of Antigua & Barbuda, V C Bird, has resulted in a wide range of opinions, and should not be missed. Of special interest is the sad piece of history that can be seen at Betty’s Hope, where a sugar plantation set up in 1674 is preserved as a monument to the slaves whose labour was exploited. An alternative is to take a day trip on the Barbuda Express, an enjoyable ferry ride. The staff is very attentive, so with music playing the whole time visitors have a lot of fun singing along. Then they delight in the Island’s amazingly secluded pink sand beaches. There are also tours that provide a delightful sampling of what the Barbuda Island has to offer. These may include the Frigate Bird Sanctuary, Low Bay that is regarded as one of the top ten beaches in the world, and the caves at Two Foot Bay, to name but a few of this island’s highlights. more/less... |

 Castries is the capital of the volcanic island country of Saint Lucia, part of the Lesser Antilles in the eastern Caribbean Sea. Its popularity stems from its tropical weather (the dry season runs from December 1 to May 31), scenery, and numerous beaches. Saint Lucia's population is predominantly of African and mixed African-European descent and while the official language is English, French-Creole is spoken by 95% of the population.
Castries has a few landmarks such as the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Derek Walcott Square (formerly Columbus Square) named after the island's Nobel Prize-winning poet, the City Library, Government House, and Fort Charlotte at the top of Morne Fortune (approx 253 m -foot hill) to name a few. Keep in mind that each May since 1991 Saint Lucia has hosted an internationally renowned Jazz Festival. A taxi service is readily available to take visitors on tours of the rest of the country or the city. There is also a water taxi available to take passengers from there to the city. Tourist attractions include a drive-in volcano, Sulphur Springs (at Soufrière), the Botanical Gardens, the Majestic twin Peaks "The Pitons" a magnificent world heritage site, the rain forests, and Pigeon Island National Park, which is home to Fort Rodney an old British military base. more/less... |

 The city of Bridgetown is the capital and largest city of the island country of Barbados, a major tourist destination in the West Indies, with numerous attractions, landmarks and monuments, museums, and art galleries of an international standard. It is also a centre for visiting many other popular cities on the island.
With a host of fascinating things to be done ,some suggestion include a trip to the Tyrol Cot Heritage Village that is rather like stepping back in time, as the Barbados of old is recreated here, offering visitors the chance to learn about its agricultural past and slave days. Visit the Parliament Buildings that house the Museum of Parliament and the National Heroes Gallery, explore the delightful beaches, discover the oldest synagogue in the western hemisphere, and visit the Barbados Garrison a former 17th century British military base. Bridgetown is typical of all good Caribbean islands and resorts, boasting a good selection of tropical white sandy beaches - many with superb coral reefs and even submerged shipwrecks - affording excellent snorkelling and scuba diving opportunities. All will enjoy the fascinating shopping that is on offer, perhaps including some of the famous local rum, while some may even be able to go a little further afield and take an electric tram, to journey through a series of underground caverns! Until October 2013 Adventure of the Seas sails from Southampton to Iceland, Norwegian fjords, Baltic Sea, Canary Islands, Iberian Peninsula and the Mediterranean. Note that in St Petersburg she stays overnight, allowing for good on-shore tours. The trans-Atlantic fare from Southampton to San Juan, Puerto Rico, in November is really low! She spends the rest of the year in the Caribbean offering a variety of 7-night voyages. Adventure of the Seas entered service in 2001 at 137,276 GT and carries 3114 passengers.
Accommodation
Staterooms come in four main categories and 22 grades, with variations based on guests’ needs: Suites/Deluxe Staterooms, Balcony Staterooms, Outside Staterooms and Interior Staterooms. When selecting accommodation consider the view, the level of privacy, and location near to or far from activity areas. All staterooms come with private bathroom, vanity area, hair dryer, interactive TV and phone. Many cabins are family-friendly with up to four additional bunk beds, and interconnecting rooms. Promenade staterooms overlook the interior Royal Promenade, and some accommodate up to six people. There are no single cabins, and many are wheelchair-accessible. In-cabin service and dining is available 24-hours.
Food and Dining
For the Main Dining Room, spread over three levels, select from three dining choices before cruising: fixed seating at the same table nightly, at either early or late sitting; open-seated My Time Dining (with pre-paid gratuities) at a flexible time; and early sitting My Family Time Dining that allows children aged 3 to 11 years to leave for their Adventure Ocean kids club. Menus feature healthy, vegetarian and kosher options. Special dietary needs can be catered for by giving advanced notice. Menus change daily throughout the cruise. Evening dress is casual or smart casual. Expect one to three formal evenings in the Main Dining Room during your cruise. There are seven complimentary eating options, including Windjammers Café, Jade Sushi and Asian cuisine, Café Promenade for coffee, pastries/snacks, and room service.
Entertainment
Signature features to entertain you include: Broadway-style productions in the Main Theatre; Studio B’s ice shows, comedy, game shows, onboard parties, and cooking demonstrations (and when the rink is not being used, skate for free); and gaming in Casino Royale. Live music features around the pool, in the main dining room, and in many lounges, bars and specialty venues. There are always parties and parades to join. Alternatively, just stroll around the Royal Promenade and shop duty-free, or for a quiet time retire to the Library/Card Room or Internet Café.
