Ships based in Australia:Noordam | Maasdam (across our summers)
Ships visiting Australia / S-E Asia: Amsterdam | Volendam

Holland America Line is British-American owned, with head office in Seattle, and one of nine cruise line brands of Carnival Corporation. HAL’s 15 ships, with dark blue hull and white superstructure, bear the suffix ‘-dam’, after dams on rivers in the Netherlands, and the four points on the compass. Itineraries circle the globe visiting 415 ports in 98 countries and seven continents. HAL’s ships are of two types: larger vessels, best suited to younger families with children, and smaller less glitzy ships for older and repeat passengers. All the ships are well maintained and crewed by academy-trained, polite and smiling Indonesians and Filipinos – and much of the décor is focused on Dutch/Indonesian artefacts of the 16th and 17th centuries. HAL has the right touches for seniors and retirees – friendly staff, flowers everywhere, sea-going traditions, alternative dining, and personal enrichment programs.

HAL partners with BBC Earth to provide stateroom entertainment. AFAR Media will provide 'Destination Guides" for all of HAL's ports and scenic cruising areas, in conjunction with trip-planners Utrip. “Signature of Excellence” enhancements cover services, dining, accommodations, public rooms, and amenities. Vessels have a built-in cinema, and operate many theme-related cruises, “University at Sea” lectures, and full-demonstration kitchens for its “Culinary Arts” program. HAL organises excellent onshore tours. Accolades include: the Five Star Diamond Award from The American Academy of Hospitality Sciences; Best Overall Cruise Value from World Ocean & Cruise Liner Society members, for the 21st consecutive year; Best Midsize Cruise Ship Line 2014 (at #2) by Conde Narst Traveler; and Best Standard Cabins by Cruise Critic US Editors’ Pick 2014.

Happy Customers

Natasha Osman served me so well, so tirelessly, so sympathetically, that I would be embarrassed to even think of using a different company in future. I just hope that Natasha is still there in future when I call to book. She is 100% first rate in all aspects like friendliness, sincerity, organisational ability, clear communication, helpfulness..."
