The seaside resort town of Saint-Tropez that lies 104 km to the east of Marseille in SE France is very popular with tourists. Set on the lovely blue water of the Bay of Saint-Tropez, this modern version of a medieval town is distinguished by the line of yachts along the quay, the promenade, and the famous terrace cafes. Behind the cafes, the small streets and old buildings comprising sunset-hued pink, orange and deep red townhouses are picturesque, but they're possibly more popular for the multitude of shops and restaurants than their historical significance. La Spezia is a city and province in the Liguria region of northern Italy, located between Genoa and Pisa on the Ligurian Sea. With the Leaning Tower of Pisa being an absolute 'must-see', there are nevertheless many other interesting sights to be enjoyed. Naples is an historic city over 2,500 years old, sitting on the west coast of southern Italy by the Gulf of Naples. Messina is a harbour on the eastern coast of Sicily, a short ferry crossing to mainland Italy lying to the east. Due to the several earthquakes that have struck the area on several occasions, the city is almost completely modern. Mostly viewed as the starting point for tours and trips to Taormina and Mount Etna, both of which are truly unforgettable, it also has much to offer in the way of history and beauty.
