La Spezia is a city and province in the Liguria region of northern Italy, located between Genoa and Pisa on the Ligurian Sea. Villefranche, aka Villefranche-sur-Mer, is a Mediterranean port in the Côte d'Azur region of the French Riviera. It is located about 6 km E of the city of Nice and 10 km SW of Monaco in one of the deepest natural harbours of any port in the Mediterranean Sea, and provides a safe anchorage for large ships. Toulon is a French city that borders the Mediterranean in the SE of Provence. Better known as France’s main naval base than a cruise port, there are some excellent beaches a short drive along the coast, and many visit the beautiful and often dramatic Provencal countryside, while others prefer to drive east to the French Riviera resorts. Port-Vendres, situated on the Mediterranean near the Spanish border in the SW of France, is backed on three sides by the magnificent rocky slopes of the foothills of the Pyrénées. These are covered by the prestigious vineyards of Banyuls that also produce the Collioure wine variety. Palma de Mallorca is the major city and port on the Mediterranean island of Majorca, and capital city of the autonomous community of the Balearic Islands in Spain. Ibiza Town, or as the locals call it Vila d’Eivissa, is situated on the SE coast of the Spanish island of Ibiza, of which it is the capital.
