Canakkale is a pleasant Turkish town settled on both sides of a bridge of the same name, which connects the Biga Peninsula in Asia. Travelling across town is easiest by the use of regular ferries. Spetses is a port and small Grecian island lying about 90 km SW of Athens (and named by the Venetians for its position on a major trade route.) It lies just a few kilometres off the Corinth Peninsula facing the southern Aegean Sea.
